How to choose an accent chair

Start by considering the purpose of your accent chair. Do you want to use it for extra seating in your living room? Or will you use it mainly to bring style to your space? Accent chairs are a versatile piece of furniture which are great for providing both style and practicality to your space. Make sure you think about the size of your chair too – does it need to be quite petite to slot neatly into a corner? Or do you want it to become a focal point in the room with a large size and bold design?   

What is an accent chair?

You might also have heard the term ‘accent chairs’ when referring to occasional chairs, and this simply means that they have a similar function, serving as bold, standout pieces in the room. What is an occasional chair? 

Occasional chairs are designed for a specific purpose such as relaxing or reading, but they are also highly versatile pieces of furniture which work in any space. They usually have a smaller footprint than armchairs, so they are easy to move from room to room.  

What is a cocktail chair?

Like occasional chairs, cocktail chairs were originally named after their purpose which was to provide a comfy yet stylish place to sit at dinner parties when entertaining guests. They are designed to be small and compact, so they can squeeze into tight spaces and be moved around easily.
