Unusual Wall Art Ideas

Wall art is much more than just incidental decoration, it’s a way to express personality, set the tone of a room and create visual interest. Graham and Green's unusual wall art turns walls into storyboards. From vintage-inspired illustrations and abstract designs to hand-framed floral studies and whimsical animal prints, the collection is carefully curated to help your home feel as unique as you are.

Looking to make a statement? Consider pairing unexpected motifs with textured frames, or mix photographic prints with painterly canvases for a layered, collected look.

How to Arrange Your Wall Art

There’s an art to arranging your art. The right composition can elevate a space and draw the eye exactly where you want it. Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Create a gallery wall: Mix sizes, frame styles and themes for an eclectic feel. Lay out your arrangement on the floor first to play with spacing and balance. Use tape to map out the overall arrangement before you commit with hammer and nails.
  • Go symmetrical for impact: Two or four prints hung in a grid create a clean, harmonious look, ideal for dining rooms and bedrooms.
  • Anchor large pieces: Use oversized prints or canvases as a focal point above a sofa, bed or sideboard, keeping them roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture below.
  • Mind the height: Artwork should generally sit at eye level - around 145cm from the floor to the centre of the piece.

Mixing up sizes and shapes on a gallery wall is great for adding intrigue.

Choosing the Right Sized Prints

When it comes to prints and large wall art, scale is key. A common mistake is choosing pieces that are too small for the space, which can make a room feel unbalanced. Here’s how to get it right:

  • For smaller walls or nooks, opt for A4 or A3-sized prints in groups of two or three to create rhythm and flow.
  • For larger spaces, such as above a sofa or bed, choose A1 or larger prints to ensure the artwork doesn’t get lost. Our large prints and canvases make ideal statement pieces.
  • In hallways or stairwells, try a vertical arrangement of three matching or complementary prints to draw the eye upwards.

Wall art brings more than colour to your home - it tells your story, sparks conversation and sets the tone for the way you live. With Graham and Green’s collection of unique prints, large canvases and carefully curated artwork, dressing your walls has never felt more inspired.
