How to host a Christmas party at home

Consider your guest list

Think realistically about how many people you can fit into your home. If your house can’t accommodate everyone at once, then it might be better to host a couple of parties for different guests so that everyone can enjoy the festivities comfortably. Alternatively, if you have the space but need a few extra tables and chairs, then make sure you get your guests to RSVP well in advance so you know how many more pieces of furniture you need. 

Have something for everyone 

When hosting a Christmas party at home, it’s so important to cater for everyone. For example, if there are guests with certain dietary requirements, or others who prefer a mocktail twist on the traditional snowball.  

Stock up your home bar

Whether it’s a bar cabinet, drinks trolley or a few shelves in your dining room dresser which you’ve transformed into a place to house your seasonal tipples, make sure you stock up on a variety of beverages for your guests. You’ll need to have the right barware to hand too for preparing your drinks including ice buckets, cocktail shakers and glassware.  

Create a beautiful Christmas tablescape 

A comfortable, well organised space is what you need in your home office. Choose an ergonomically designed office chair and set up your desk in a dedicated area to create separation between your work and home life. Use the likes of shelves, drawers, filing cabinets and baskets to keep your office feeling tidy. Having plenty of storage also means you can put items away when you no longer need them, helping to minimise distractions during your working day.
